  5. AutoClock is an application and a system extension that keeps your Macintosh's 
  6. clock right. As a matter of fact, this clock has the tendency to deviate from 
  7. the standard time every day, which can accumulate to minutes or dozens of 
  8. minutes after one year.
  9.  
  10. The AutoClock application allows you to:
  11.  - set the clock by calling a time server in Washington D.C., if you have a 
  12.    modem,
  13.  - set the clock manually from an accurate source (for exemple a vocal time 
  14.    server),
  15.  - display a logbook of every clock changes that occurs on your Macintosh, 
  16.    whether they are done with AutoClock, or with another application (the 
  17.    General control panel, or the Clock desk accessroy for example),
  18.  - compute the mean clock deviation of the Macintosh's clock for a 24-hour
  19.    period, using data recorded in the logbook,
  20.  - display the date and time in almost any country of the world.

  22. The system extension AutoClock Extension can:
  23.  - periodically open the AutoClock application according to your schedule, to 
  24.    perform an automatic clock adjustment by calling the time server, without 
  25.    any user intervention,
  26.  - keep the Macintosh's clock continually right, by adjusting it using the 
  27.    computed mean clock deviation,
  28.  - detect any clock changes done by any other programs, and record them in the 
  29.    application's logbook.

  36. The AutoClock application and AutoClock Extension work on any Macintosh, with 
  37. System 6.0.5 or later, including system 7.0. AutoClock is 32-bit clean, and has 
  38. balloon help if used with System 7.0.
  39.  
  40. To set clock by calling the time server, AutoClock needs 1200-bps Hayes 
  41. compatible modem (Bell 212A standard). Extra serial ports compatible with the 
  42. Communication Toolbox are recognized.

  49. Bug fixes:
  50.   - Fixes a bug causing a bomb in few circumstances, after a failed connection.
  51.   - Fixes a bug causing an invalid adjustement of several hours in few
  52.     circumstances, instead of a single second, when using the continuous
  53.     adjustement feature. 
  54.   - Fixes a bug causing a bomb after displaying consecutive error messages in
  55.     alert windows.
  56.   - If a connection must occur at startup, AutoClock will now wait for one
  57.     after the Finder appearance for proceeding, to avoid some incompatibilities.
  58.   - Fixes bug that prevent the AutoClock extension to work correctly with
  59.     System 6.0.x.
  60.   - Some circumstances that caused the appearance of the cross over the
  61.     AutoClock icon at startup have been eliminated.
  62.   - Fixes inversion of messages "...clock is slow/fast" after connection.
  63.   - Fixes cosmetic problems when display dates in the logbook window, specially
  64.     when using foreign formats like German.
  65.   - The X1 Hayes command is no longer necessary with some modems sending
  66.     RINGING before connecting.
  67.   - Fixes UTC offsets for Malaysia and Nepal (Asia), and Newfoundland (Canada).
  68.   - Divides 15 states in U.S. and Canada that are split into two time zones.

  77.   - Can now set clock manually (using a local time server, or you watch for
  78.     example), allowing those without modem to use the continuous clock
  79.     adjustment feature to keep their Macintosh's clock right.
  80.   - Added a security that cancels continuous adjustment if this adjustment is
  81.     too big, that is, probably wrong.
  82.   - If you change the "Daylight Saving Time" option in the "Loaction" dialog
  83.     box, AutoClock now asks if it must adjust the clock (by adding or
  84.     subtracting one hour).
  85.   - "AutoClock Extension" is now fully compatible with Systems 6.0.5 to 6.0.8,
  86.     (and System 7.0), allowing scheduled clock adjustment and continuous
  87.     adjustment with these systems.

  90.   - HandOff II incompatibility fixed.
  91.   - Screen-savers (AfterDark, DarkSide, ScreenLocker) incompatibility fixed.
